They can be performed using general anaesthetic which means you will be asleep, or using local anaesthetic to numb the treated area which means you remain awake but feel no pain. As an anaesthetic is used, there is no pain during the procedure. A certain degree of swelling or bruising is normal and a cold compress will help your healing and relieve discomfort.
