Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers can be used to improve your appearance by smoothing out those unwanted folds and wrinkles. The filler is used to fill out creases or lines on your face that have been created by the loss of elasticity in the skin as you age. By restoring the volume to these areas your skin will look smoother and appear softer, resulting in a more youthful appearance.
Your lips can also be enhanced by the judicious use of dermal fillers: -
Lip border and lines
Gradually over time your lips can become thinner and smaller as well as developing fine lines at the edges into which lipstick 'bleeds'. Injecting small amounts of dermal filler can restore a smooth defined vermillion border and a natural youthful look.
Fuller lips
This treatment is tailored to suit each individual person, from a mild natural enhancement to a more glamorous pout.
Areas of use for Dermal Fillers:
Eye laughter lines (crows feet)
nose to mouth lines (naso-labial lines)
smile lines on the cheeks
chin indentations
frown lines between the eyebrows
lips
About the Procedure
Your Dermal Filler Consultation
During your pre treatment consultation, your practitioner will explain what Dermal Filler option is best for your requirements and how you can expect to look afterwards. Your practitioner will discuss with you the various types of Dermal Filler products that are available and will advise on the type/s that would most benefit you. Your consultation will also include a very careful examination of your face and a detailed recording of your medical history.
The Procedure for Dermal Fillers
It is usual for small local anaesthetic injections to be used when Dermal Fillers are placed. This is often like when you have a filling at your dentist. Alternatively Emla cream is used which is a local anaesthetic cream used to numb the area.
The Dermal Filler is gently injected into specific areas of your skin to reduce the depth of the skin crease and your surgeon will customise the exact depth and number of injections to give you the most natural result. Different Dermal Fillers can be used in different areas of your face to further enhance the effect.
